Waynesville Hollers Announce Briggs Barker as Inaugural Head Coach
Waynesville, NC – The Waynesville Hollers are thrilled to announce Briggs Barker as the team’s first-ever head coach. Barker, a native of Black Mountain, NC, brings a wealth of experience in player development and a deep love for baseball to the organization as it prepares for its inaugural season.
“I am beyond excited to lead this team this summer,” Barker said. “Being part of the first Waynesville Hollers team is a special honor, and I can’t wait for Opening Day. We have the opportunity to set the cornerstone of this team and build something the community can be proud of for many summers to come.”
Barker currently serves as Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Cleveland Community College and has a strong track record in developing players both on and off the field. While baseball is his primary passion, he also enjoys following Duke Basketball, running, and spending time with family.
Representing the Hollers holds deep meaning for Barker. “To represent this organization means the world. Mountain baseball has a special place in my heart, and I am excited for our team to represent Western North Carolina this summer,” he said. “I am thankful to GM Bradley Pace and The Players League President Alec Allred for trusting me with this role.”
Barker emphasized that success goes beyond wins and losses. “Of course we want to compete at a high level, but success also looks like developing our players—not just as athletes, but as sons, husbands, fathers, and members of the community,” he said. “We want the Hollers to reflect the toughness, pride, and character of Haywood County and Western North Carolina.”
In addition to on-field competition, Barker plans to engage with the community through youth camps, sponsorships, and promotional events. “We hope to create a team that our fans can get behind, while also giving back to the region that has given so much to baseball,” he said.
With Barker at the helm, the Waynesville Hollers are set to make an immediate impact, providing exciting baseball and fostering community pride in Western North Carolina.
